The Hobbit movie, the prequel to LOTR, has been in limbo for quite some time now and New Line Cinema will soon lose the rights to the story. I, personally, am in favor of this because it means that Peter Jackson will probably head up the production if it is done by MGM and not New Line. However, New Line is trying to find another director and shoot the movie in a flurry before their time is up. I believe Peter Jackson wants to do the project for the sake of telling the story, as opposed to New Line wanting to do it for the money.
